LANSING, MI – On Thursday, October 29th, the Lansing Love Your Block Team and Director Bob Johnson gathered neighbors at the Neighborhood Empowerment Center to announce the Lansing Love Your Block grantees. Funds totaling $25,000 were awarded to seven projects that demonstrate collaborative and innovative approaches to neighborhood revitalization. They include:

Transforming sections of a parking lot into a public seating area and using local artists to design and construct additional bike racks;
Connecting unemployed young adults with facade work on neighbors’ properties; and
Community Garden improvements including a rainwater wall and worm pipes.
These projects will serve as a foundation for ongoing neighborhood revitalization efforts that highlight the value of citizen engagement through impact volunteering. All projects will be completed within the next year and are expected to make a lasting impact on the quality of life in their neighborhoods.
Project updates will be posted on Lansing’s Love Your Block Blog. You can follow their progress at
